Update about our partners in the Philippines after typhoon
In the Philippines the passage of typhoon Rai, locally named Odette, has a devastating impact on people and infrastructure. Our partners ICWF and Bidlisiw are doing their best to resume their operations, while CLB - the hardest hit among our partners - presently remains paralyzed. The impact on our supported youth and their communities remains to be seen.
We were able to receive a message from Weng telling us about the situation at CLB: “I am not sure if you will be able to receive this message because the signal here is unstable. Our situation in Cebu is really difficult after typhoon Odette came - no electricity, water, battery, ATM (all offline). If there is a bank open, you have to line up very early in the morning. The electricity posts were all down especially in the area where the CLB office is located. Even the bakery was closed because it did not have water. All prices of commodities rose up. The candles are now out-of-stock, we improved our lamp using used oil and salt. We do not know how long this situation will continue.”
Our hearts are with them these also for them supposed to be merry and joyful last days of the year and we hope they will be able to recover from these misfortunes as soon as possible.
