Pieter Thys

After completing his master studies in Linguistics and Social & Cultural Anthropology, Pieter first volunteered as an English teacher in an elementary school in South Africa and as documentation officer for an NGO working with indigenous farmer communities in the Philippines. Between 2009 and 2014, he was working for KIYO as programme facilitator for the country programme in the Philippines. From 2014 to 2021, Pieter was living and working in Haiti, working for Broederlijk Delen, first as advisor on capacity development with local human rights organisations and later as country representative.

In November 2021, he started working again for KIYO. As programme manager, he is working in close relation with the different country teams for the implementation and monitoring of the country programmes, and contributing to organisational processes of capacity development and mutual learning among partners and between country teams.
