Jan’s experience as a veterinarian in the livestock sector and subsequently as a union secretary for professionals and managers has taught him that globalisation is an irreversible process and introduces the notion of "global citizenship". Everyone has their place in this world and youth are the driving forces of the future.

Youth need to be able to shape their future themselves. They must be given a voice that is listened to. KIYO provides them with the appropriate support that balances social, emotional and educational factors. KIYO's pioneering role convinced him to take up the role as a president of the board until June 2023. Jan continues to voluntarily work for KIYO as the Legacy Adviser.
