Loes Debuysere

As a researcher with a background in Conflict and Development Studies, I have been privileged to witness first-hand the strength of youth (and young women in particular) in pushing for change. Whether by rising together in Tunisia for the right to dignified work or by claiming their rights in a youth parliament in DR Congo, young people want to make their voice heard. By focusing on their rights and their agency, KIYO seeks to cultivate and foster the potential of youth as drivers of individual and societal change, rather than approaching them as mere victims in need of help. This is an emancipatory mission that I fully support. As a member of the Board, I hope to contribute to KIYO’s work with my experience both as an (academic) researcher and as a (more hands-on) Monitoring & Evaluation consultant specialised in international solidarity.

Member of the Board since 2021.
